the 200ok weblog

I've added a new feed option to complement the main post feed: the 200ok "extras" feed. The extras feed includes links from ma.gnolia and photos from flickr.

Naturally if you don't want both, the ma.gnolia feed and flickr photostream feed are available separately.

Ahh the joy of syndication! ;)

Although it's been quiet here, it's been an intense couple of weeks offline. I've resigned at Griffith and accepted a new job down in Sydney (more on that later, no doubt). I will in fact be living in Sydney by the time Web Directions rolls around - yes, even though it's just weeks away!

So not only will I be a speaker, I'll be a local. Albeit a local whose feet have barely touched the ground...

At this point all I can really think of to say is 'moving interstate is an utter pain in the arse'. Not the most eloquent sentiment, but true nonetheless :)

I've changed the XML feed from summaries to full descriptions. This seems more productive, despite losing data on what's getting read. If you really like a post, do me a favour and click through eh? :)

I've also switched over to using FeedBurner to manage this site's newsfeed. This is partly to compensate for Blogger's limitations in terms of feed management; and partly to make use of some of FeedBurner's features.

The old feed is still there at the moment, but not looking too pretty. So, if you're reading the old feed... I recommend updating to the new one.

Just a quick note regarding the RSS feed: yes, there's a bug - quote entities are removed from the content along with anything in between them. Makes for some very strangely structured summaries as it steps through the post.

The bug has been reported to Blogger. Not much else I can do at this stage since the problem is with the source XML, not the XSLT tweaking I do before letting it loose on the world :)

Google's feed control isn't exactly syndication nirvana. It could really use some refinement.
